What a journey. This has been quite a few years in the making and I’m glad to finally share the music with you. You can find detailed info about the record in my previous blog post. It feels strange to put so much effort into something for years at end — it literally becomes your baby, and now it’s out there, free to roam around the world. Let me tell you: it takes a lot of dedication. I feel exhausted right now. It’s been such a difficult process, that it feels like getting rid of a brain tumour. Sort of.
I have already posted the video for Building Homes across my social media platforms, but I’ll include it here as well. The video was made by Alessandra Condello, who constantly investigates the dialogic relationship between traditional art and artificial intelligence. The main objective was to highlight the “mistakes” of AI: the imperfections that bring the resulting images to life, often with a disturbing feel to them. Alessandra says: «The video was made entirely with the runwayapp Gen-2, with prompt-to-video commands only. This resulted in a storytelling of sort of the REM-phase of sleep, containing intentional glitches and digital errors, and giving the videoclip a dream-like — Dormiveglia — atmosphere».
I’m now looking forward to play some of the songs from the album in front of people — drummer Alessandro Inolti and I are at work in our rehearsing shed, crafting the material. Our friend Eugene will join us next week for a couple of days. We will then open a Stick Men show in Rome on November 16, at Auditorium Parco della Musica (it will be nice to see Tony, Pat and Markus again), and we are scheduled to play a showcase in my hometown, Latina, on November 17 (at Monstar Lab). The showcase will be a mix of old and new, with a bit of storytelling. Too bad it’s going to be such a short adventure, but I hope that we’ll get to play more shows in 2024. That’s the plan, at least.
In the meantime, take your time with the record. Let it plant its seeds, let it grow. I hope it will be a meaningful experience for you and that you enjoy the flow of the music.
Bye for now.
Will you put this on your Bandcamp?
