Hello,
a quick update to let you know what’s going on in my small secluded world.
The new EchoTest album, Daughter of Ocean, is now available for immediate stream/download in two ways: you can subscribe to Julie Slick’s bandcamp page and get access to all 16 of her albums plus VIP exclusives (like stems to some of our songs):
https://julieslick.bandcamp.com
or…
you can pre-order the vinyl, which will be a very sweet gatefold double 180g scarlet red LP. Official release is scheduled for January 2019 – at that time you will also be able to order CDs (for those of you who still own CD players… they seem to be a rarity these days).
Once again, we are delighted to have some beautiful artwork delivered by artist Derek Riggs. As a long-time Iron Maiden fan, I still can’t wrap my head around it!
We believe Daughter of Ocean marks an evolution in the sound of EchoTest. Julie had been working on the title-track for more than six years. Get prepared for a sonic journey that will take you through an unsettling, haunting scenario, with lyrics by yours truly and Julie inspired by the tragic tsunami that hit Japan on March 11th 2011. It will be mellow and soothing at times, and wild and unpredictable as the tracklist goes by.
To get more insights about the story and the concept behind the music, you can read this excerpt from a book by Richard Lloyd Parry, Ghosts of the Tsunami.
We are determined to play shows around the world to support the release. It is not easy to do it all by ourselves, but I can assure you we will do our best to play as much as possible, wherever possible.
In other news, I’m preparing to launch a subscription service for my bandcamp page, and the announcement will be accompanied by the release of a brand new song (an outtake from Small Music From Broken Windows that I finally decided to bring into completion).
I’m also doing a series of workshops called Out of the Box – aimed at bringing new conscience into the spiritual and moral depth of the musical work. It is my humble attempt at fighting the worrying attitude of oversight and superficiality towards music. As a working musician, this worldwide trend is affecting me deeply and in ways that are not at all positive. I’m starting with a series of events in my hometown of Latina, in January 2019, and I’m hoping to bring the workshop around various locations.
Stay safe and well,
Marco
