It’s been an intense first half of the year. I’m glad to announce that I have worked on the Italian translation of the brand-new Boy George memoir, Karma — it’s now available on the Italian market, published by Rizzoli Lizard. It’s a fun, entertaining read. While working on the book, I revisited some of the Culture Club music. Lots of good stuff.
Soon after, I was offered the opportunity to translate a massive retrospective on Bob Dylan, published by the remarkable Callaway Arts with the collaboration of the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, OK. I have started working on the first chapter. The deadline is tight (as usual), so it’s going to be a boiling hot summer! Here’s a brief description of the book from the Bob Dylan Center website:
Edited by Mark Davidson and Parker Fishel, Bob Dylan: Mixing Up the Medicine focuses a close look at the full scope of Dylan’s working life, particularly from the dynamic perspective of his ongoing and shifting creative processes — his earliest home recordings in the mid-1950s right up through Rough and Rowdy Ways (2020), his most recent studio recording, and into the present day.
Beyond stocked to be working on this. In between those two jobs, I have kept myself busy translating another book — a romance/young adult novel — to be released sometime this year. Phew!
It’s been non-stop. As you can imagine, I hardly had any chance to work on music. There is, however, something special in the works. I’m going to play some songs off Dormiveglia (plus older material) in the ancient amphitheater of Luni, in the wonderful Italian region of Liguria, on June 28th — together with Eugene (synthesisers, electronics) and Alessandro Inolti (electronic drum kit), plus Pat Mastelotto as a special guest on drums. It will be a forty-minutes’ set — more or less —, within the framework of the Parole Liberate project (link to my previous blog post for more information). The evening will feature different artists, music and talks. I’m looking forward to it and quite excited to play with Pat, Ale and Eugene again.
I will write a journal about the show in due time.
